Five years ago I suffered a major blood hemorrhage in my left eye which caused me to lose sight in that eye due to optic nerve damage. I was referred to the Doheny Eye Clinic and was given the same diagnosis – that there was nothing they could do. However, I did have sight in my right eye, so I was able to still see enough to get by. I am a Realtor by profession and continued working even though I could no longer drive an automobile. My daughter, who also is a Realtor, assisted me as well as my husband when my daughter was not available. As time went on the sight in my eye started deteriorating. I was told I had a cataract on the right eye. At first one does not realize just how much sight you are loosing. It became much worse over the past year. Over three years ago I had to use a sight seeing cane as my sight worsened. I was advised to get a sight seeing dog. I really thought I was doomed to be totally blind. My Retinologist suggested that I have a cataract surgery; however I was very reluctant after what happened to my left eye. Then a few months ago he performed a fairly new test which enabled him to see what my sight would be without the cataract. He told me if I had the operation I would be able to throw my cane away. After much thought, I consented – he referred me to Dr. Michael Kaplan of the Clarity Eye Group of Huntington Beach, CA. Dr. Kaplan assured me that he would be able to give me a new lens and that I would be able to pass the driving test again. I consented and he performed the surgery which was a total success. Everything Dr. Kaplan told me has come true. My sight is now 20/25 and I no longer require the cane. My long distance vision is incredible and to be able to see color so vividly, well, for me it is a miracle! The Clarity Eye Group is a fantastic organization, including the staff and everyone who works there. They are all so caring " helpful and make you feel so comfortable. I wanted to write and thank you for the life changing experience that was my LASIK surgery in April 2007.

At my initial consultation, the staff put me at ease. The technology for my eye test was excellent and far more advanced than that used in the eye test at my opticians in Vienna just a week before – it was not a surprise that my prescription was wrong. All my questions were answered, and I was excited to be a suitable candidate. I was impressed with Dr. Fahd, who I found friendly and approachable, and I was satisfied with his experience and credentials. I was happy that he would be doing my surgery.

Before the surgery, it didn't seem quite real that it was going to happen to me, such a major change. Never needing my glasses again seemed almost unbelievable. On my surgery day, I filled out the forms and took off my glasses for the last time. I wasn't at all nervous, but very excited and the staff put me at ease. Finally, it was my turn in the surgery room. It was a little uncomfortable and peculiar to have someone fiddling with my eyes, but over very quickly – compared to long hours in the dentist's chair, it was nothing!

At my check-up a week later, my vision was 20/20. I flew the three flights back home with no problems and went back to work. I had been a little nervous about how I would be in front of my computer writing all day, but had no problems: if my eyes were tired or sore, I just used the artificial tears and they felt better. I didn't tell anyone I was having the surgery, so it was quite a surprise. I have been telling everyone evangelically about my experiences and LASIK. I can't believe how safe, comfortable, and effortless it all was, and that, for the sake of some money, I could have perfect vision. My only regret is not having it sooner.

I would recommend Dr. Fahd, Clarity Eye Group, and LASIK to everyone who is considering it. It has changed my life."
